Emojoy Knives Review: Knife Sets for Every Kitchen
By Bobby B. | October 2021 | Knife Brands
Emojoy knife sets have become increasingly popular over the last few years. They are a brand that produces quality knives at a budget friendly price. Here in our Emojoy review we’ll take a closer look at these knife sets, describe their pros and cons, and discuss how they measure up to some of the more high-end brands.
All Emojoy knives are forged using high-carbon stainless steel (X50CrMoV15). This is a common steel used by German knife makers and creates strong, sharp blades. They also have a full tang and partial bolster design making the knife feel weighted and balanced in your hand while protecting your fingers from sliding onto the blade. Emojoy knife blades are sharped to a roughly 16-degree angle making them good for precise cuts. The ergonomically designed handles are one of the most popular features of these knives. Many customer reviews comment on how comfortable the knives feel in their hands and how easy they are to grip. Finally, Emojoy knives have a Rockwell hardness rating of 55+. This rating means the steel is on the softer side. Therefore, the blades will require sharpening more often; yet, they are less likely to chip.
Emojoy Knives: Pros and Cons
There are pros and cons of choosing an Emojoy Knife Set. We spent some time researching these knives and reading countless customer reviews. As a result, we found the list of pros and cons below to most accurately describe people’s experiences with Emojoy.
Pros:
- Comfortable grip handles
- Extremely sharp and easy to sharpen back to its original edge
- Quality steel for an excellent price
- Good assortment of knives available in the block sets
Cons:
- Sold in sets, doesn’t appear individual pieces can be purchased
- Requires frequent sharpening
- Must handwash and dry to avoid rust
- The serrated knives can be difficult to use

The pros here definitely outweigh the cons in our opinion. On the negative side, individual pieces are not sold, making it hard to replace pieces that get damaged. Yet, aside from that, the rest of the cons are similar to those of other knife brands. Many customer reviews comment that the Emojoy serrated knives are tricky to use and often tear or rip through foods instead of cutting them. As we pointed out above, Emojoy is made from a softer steel that may need to be sharpened more frequently. This is no different for the serrated pieces; however, sharpening serrated blades can be tricky and the average home chef may not be familiar with the process. To learn how to sharpen serrated knives correctly see our blog post.
Emojoy Knife Series
There are three Emojoy Knife Series available. Each series has the same quality knives with the difference being the material the handles are made from. As mentioned above all Emojoy handles, regardless of material, are ergonomically designed with specific non-slip grips for comfort and safety. Each series has multiple knife block and handle color options and may be available in 15-to-22-piece sets.

ABS Handle Series
The handles in this series are made of a strong, lightweight thermoplastic polymer known as ABS. The series has multiple handle styles and colors to choose from to match any kitchen decor.

Hollow Handle Series
This series is made of stainless steel hollow handles that come in a variety of patterns. The handles give the knives a classic look and the textured designs provide the grip needed to keep the knife from slipping.

Wooden Handle Series
The wooden handles in this series are shaped from heat treated wood, are water resistant, and have a good grip due to the textured wood grain. However, the design options are limited in this series.

Emojoy Compared To Other Brands
Many people look at the price of Emojoy knives compared to more well-known higher-end brands and automatically think they must be low quality. However, the two aren’t as different as one may think. The German steel used by Emojoy is the same steel used by other trusted brands such as Wusthof and Cangshan. Although this may be true, the more notable brands have been making knives for centuries. They have perfected the heat treatment process which increases the Rockwell hardness rating of their steel. Similar to Emojoy, they sharpen their blades to a remarkably sharp angle of 16–17-degrees. However, the sharp edge coupled with the increased hardness rating makes the blade on these top brands more durable and allows them to keep their sharp edge longer.
In addition to the hardness rating, there are other design differences such as using full bolsters as opposed to partial bolsters that also helps increase the quality of other top brands. There’s no question that there are other brands on the market that make higher quality knives than Emojoy. Nonetheless, Emojoy checks all of the boxes if you’re looking for an affordable, full tang knife set made of quality steel. You are definitely getting a great value for your money with these knives.
Emojoy Knife Set Review Conclusion
In conclusion, we believe Emojoy makes good quality, budget-friendly knife sets that would be great for day-to-day use in any kitchen. Not only are they forged, full tang, and made of German steel (all things you look for in good knives) but also around $100 or less making them a good value for your money. Furthermore, they consistently receive high ratings from current owners. The biggest drawback of owning an Emojoy knife set is that it doesn’t appear that replacement pieces can be purchased if one of your knives should break. We would suggest reaching out to the manufacture if this were to occur, however we haven’t found any data to determine how easy/responsive they would be. That being said, if maintained properly, hand washed and sharpened when needed, an Emojoy knife set should last for many years.
Emojoy has a wide variety of knife sets to choose from. There are three different handle series to choose from and multiple designs/colors in each series. Continue reading to see some of the best, most popular sets currently available.

Emojoy 15-Piece Hollow Handle Kitchen Knife Set:
This Emojoy 15-piece Hollow Handle Knife Set is one of the more popular hollow handle sets made by this brand. Emojoy uses sandblasting to give these knife handles a tiny gravel texture creating a non-slip grip. The texture also helps prevent visible fingerprints which are often a common drawback of having stainless steel handles. Additionally, the set includes kitchen shears which are multifunctional and have a few extra components compared to kitchen scissors (such as a bottle opener and serrated area inside the handle for cracking). The knife block has a natural wood grain design and sits completely upright. Overall, this is another great set created by Emojoy that would be an excellent addition to any kitchen.
Emojoy Steak Knives
Emojoy also makes steak knife sets. If your looking for a well-made set of serrated steak knives or maybe additional steak knives to add to your Emojoy Knife set they have a few options you can choose from. Designs come in either 6- or 8- piece sets. They come in a nice box that would be great for gift giving; however, it’s not necessarily a box you would store the knives in long term. Most of the Emojoy steak knife sets come with wooden handles with the exception of two ABS handle sets designed to match their larger kitchen knife sets. All sets are normally under $50 and built with the same quaility steel and ergonomically designed handles making them a great value for your money.
